Privacy Policy

Commitment to You

This Privacy Policy Statement outlines how we, as a business subject to the Privacy Act, manage your personal data while we provide our service. This Privacy Policy Statement does not confer or impose any extra rights under the Privacy Act outside of those already provided by law, nor does it have any legal effect.

Although information is needed to provide a quality service, we place a high priority on maintaining your right to privacy. We consider it essential to handle your information that has been entrusted to us responsibly. We are mindful of your privacy concerns and committed to being transparent about the types of personal information being gathered and how they will be used.

Types of personal data we gather

The type of consumer data that we may occasionally buy affects the type of information that we gather. The primary set of personal filters will often contain, but not be limited to, a person's full name, gender, age or range of ages, full address, phone numbers—landline or mobile—either, email addresses, marital status (if relevant), and income range—where provided. Even though this isn't a comprehensive list, it outlines the basic criteria by which we acquire and improve our data sets.

We may gather data that includes personal information such as names, addresses, and other contact details as described above as part of our principal business purpose, which is the purchase, collection, and analysis of consumer data.

Sensitive data, such as those related to your health, criminal history, Medicare, driver's licence, passport, or your race or religion, is not something we gather.

Where & how do we gather personal data?

We obtain personal information directly from the individual to whom it pertains wherever this is technically feasible. For instance, you might provide us your name and contact info so we can get in touch with you. This isn't always feasible or suitable, so we also obtain personal data from a variety of other sources, including data brokers, contests, surveys, online marketplaces, and more, in addition to publicly accessible sources and our own internal sources. For specific purposes, such as the investigation of a privacy complaint, or when the individuals would reasonably expect to be contacted due to the way their information was made available in the public domain for contact, we only do this if the individual has consented to such collection, would reasonably expect us to collect their personal information in this way, or if it is necessary.

When we obtain personal information from third parties, we take care to ensure that those doing so confirm that it was obtained in accordance with Privacy Act requirements, that they have the right to give it to us, and that they have the authority to allow us to use it for the purposes for which they are providing it as well as our primary business purpose of providing B2C information services.

Why do we gather personal data, and what do we do with it?

We work with our clients to improve the marketing of their products and services by offering consumer data insights, targeting, and data quality services. We also assist them to find people across Australia for various services like ID Verification and fraud protection. We collect, analyse, and process a lot of data to deliver this, some of which is personal data needed for marketing to the right person or persons of audience interest.

Your personal information is used and disclosed by BUY DATA LIST to help its clients create marketing plans for all Australian consumers. We only use and disclose the personal data we gather in the situations listed below:

  • Your permission or consent was requested in connection with the use or dissemination of the information or was indicated as opt-in;
  • Was available in the public domain already and reasonably expect contact by the publication;
  • It is used for the purpose for which the information was collected and published;
  • Under Australian Law, court orders, or other valid legal authority, we must or are permitted to;

The information is primarily used and reasonably necessary in order to provide our clients with a range of products and services, including but not limited to marketing communication, fraud detection and prevention, locating individuals across Australia for ID Verification and Validation, and skiptracing.  Due to the nature, volume, and expense of the information we occasionally get, it is not practical for BUY DATA LIST to contact and advise the people whose information is in the public domain that it has been gathered for use at the time of collection. Nonetheless, BUY DATA LIST will always make an effort to tell the individual as soon as is reasonably possible if no direct consent was granted for the collection of the individual's personal information or no indirect consent was provided through a third party.

To whom do we reveal personal data?

Insofar as you have granted permission for the use of your information to the person who obtained it, we do and will occasionally provide a number of products and services that permit access to and use of personal information that we have gathered and/or purchased. BUY DATA LIST will always make sure that its clients are only using your personal information for the purposes for which you gave your consent or were intended. Primarily, though not exclusively, marketing and consumer insights, as well as for the goods and services we offer via our data portals or API.

When required to do so by an Australian law, a court order, or another legal process, or when we have a good faith belief that using or disclosing the information is necessary for one or more enforcement-related activities carried out by or on behalf of an enforcement body, we may be required to disclose your personal information.

How safe is your private data?

We employ advanced, highly secure procedures to accomplish this, which are supervised and managed by our CTO. Only those who need access to your personal information are granted access in accordance with high-quality security and encryption procedures and technology. Users and subscribers of the goods and services we offer can also gain access, as can any law enforcement organisation to which we are obligated by law to divulge your personal information.

To make sure we are fulfilling and will continue to fulfil our obligations under the Privacy Act, we examine this policy on a regular basis and evaluate our performance against it. BUY DATA LIST employees and/or agents must successfully complete training on data handling and/or dissemination in accordance with privacy principles. To protect our systems, we have automatic intrusion detection systems, thorough event recording, and automated auditing mechanisms in place. Any systems that store a person's personal information are carefully watched for loss, theft, misuse, and intrusion.

How do we maintain the quality of your personal information?

The necessity of having accurate and current personal data about a person is acknowledged by BUY DATA LIST. We make different improvements to ensure the accuracy of the data we gather from third parties and publicly accessible sources, as well as the data we get from customers who use our goods and services. When new or improved information becomes available, we will immediately include it in our datasets and products. Our entire universe dataset is updated once a month, but we constantly improve and add to it.
